Sable Therapeutics
A proprietary molecule developed for the visible appearance of body skin, and the ingredient at the heart of a new Sable brand of body care.
The Discovery
A dendrimer is a molecule built outward from a single core in precise, repeating branches. Adicel™ was developed from P‑G3 PAMAM, a parent compound in the third generation of that architecture, and is performance optimized for use on the skin and manufactured under strict quality control so that every batch is identical.
Preclinical research has examined P‑G3 PAMAM for its interaction with adipose tissue and for its effects on biological pathways associated with lipid storage and adipocyte function. In those laboratory models it is known to shrink fat cells by inhibiting the accumulation of excess lipid inside them.
The selectivity is a matter of charge. The molecule carries a positive surface charge; the matrix surrounding fat cells carries a negative one. Fat cells take the molecule up. In the models studied, surrounding tissue does not.
The underlying research originated at Columbia University Medical Center and was published in Nature Nanotechnology. Sable Therapeutics engineered the molecule as a cosmetic ingredient for the skin.
A different premise
It stores energy, cushions, and insulates. The body needs it. For decades the answer has been to remove it. We believe the answer is to restore it.
The Biology
Over time a fat cell fills, rounds, and works less efficiently. A single cell can grow up to 20 times in diameter, theoretically holding around 8,000 times more lipid.2
The research behind Adicel™ is concerned with that swelling. Interrupt the accumulation of excess lipid, and the cell returns toward its earlier, more compact form: the small, metabolically healthy fat cell of a younger body. It is still a fat cell, and still doing its work.
Compact
Storing and releasing energy as it should, holding its natural rounded form.
Enlarged
Swollen with lipid and misshapen. What shows on the surface as softness and dimpling begins here.
Returned
In laboratory models, lipid accumulation is inhibited and the cell is right-sized rather than removed.
Preclinical findings
In an in vitro study by Genemarkers, Adicel reduced lipid accumulation in human fat cells by 23 percent over 24 hours.1
Fat-cell volume reduced by up to 70 percent, reported for P‑G3 PAMAM in separate preclinical research.2
Cells return toward a smaller, more youthful state, with improved markers of function observed in laboratory models.2,3
Taken up by adipocytes; surrounding tissue unaffected in the models studied.2,3
The first finding was measured for Adicel in human cells in vitro. The other three describe P‑G3 PAMAM, the parent compound Adicel was developed from, as characterised in preclinical laboratory research. None of them are performance claims for any finished cosmetic formula.

Credibility
The research behind Adicel™ has been published in peer-reviewed literature and tested for safety. Adicel™ is not classified as a drug, and products containing it require no FDA pre-approval.
It is a trademarked, patent-pending ingredient, owned outright by Sable Therapeutics.
The technology
How it works
P‑G3 PAMAM in preclinical research
The illustration shows the two principal layers of the skin and the subcutaneous layer that lies below them.
Epidermis
The protective outer layer.
Dermis
Supports structure and elasticity.
Subcutaneous layer
Contains the adipose tissue where the fat cells sit, and where the molecule is taken up.
Selective uptake
Fat cells take the molecule up. Surrounding tissue does not.
Transcutaneous delivery
Engineered to pass through the skin surface, without a needle or a procedure.
Established safety
Safety and skin retention established in the underlying research, with no uptake into surrounding organs observed.
From molecule to brand
Adicel™ is the ingredient Sable’s next brand is built on: a line of body care for the areas where smoothness, firmness, and definition change over time.
Adicel™ was developed using advanced research into factors associated with the appearance of uneven body skin. Formulas powered by it are designed to visibly smooth and refine body skin, and to help targeted areas appear firmer and more contoured.
The brand, and its first formulas, will be introduced ahead of launch.
